Billing Aquadrome Ltd

Crow Lane
Great Billing
Northampton
Northamptonshire
NN3 9DA

Web site:

How to get there:
M1 junctions 15 15a or 16, join the A43 and follow the brown signs I recommend junction 15 as it's a straight road from there, just turn left on the island and keep going!

Prices:
Odd! £15 a night with £3 a night if you want a hook up, but.. I'm disabled and was told that it cost £10 all in until I got there and then was told that I needed to pay the extra £3 for electric.. now I can't work this out but 5 nights cost me £75 but the next 2 nights cost me £26 anyway....
There are no marked out pitches and the hook-ups are a bit slapdash. We had to ask the people in a nearby caravan to move one of their hook-up leads (they had two !, in different posts), so we could connect ours. They did move one of their leads.

There are a lot of residential pitches.

Facilities are very limited and basic, the fair is very expensive and there are very few rides although the arcades make up for it with loads of 2p machines! (£10 later, we thought maybe this wasn't such a good idea!)
There was very little for my two teenagers to do and they got so bored that when one of their friends arrived on Wednesday they blagged themselves a lift home!
The swimming pool was drained and surrounded by fencing and I saw the sandpit used as a dogs toilet on more than one occasion.

Toilets and Showers:
Not impressed:
Free showers luckily. Both the toilets and the showers where in need of a good clean and de-grease, and 7 showers between nearly 300 caravans not good! We were told that there were showers for wheelchair users but we couldn't find them and although I found the disabled toilets it was sad to see that even though they had Radar locks they were left unlocked for most of the time and I had to ask some kids to leave when it was raining so that I could use them!

Fishing:
The charges were.. £5 a day or £15 a week on either Kingfisher Lake or anywhere else.

Kingfisher Lake is the main competition lake but it has been over-fed and so the fish didn't want to know. My husband was not happy!  Most of the other lakes are ok but the rivers are the best, he caught perch and chub, but check where you fish as one side of a tree is Billing and the other is Northampton angling club who charge £3 instead of £5 and Billing charged him £5. It was only when the bailiff from the NAC asked him for his money that he found out that he had been conned!
Baits vary but you do need maggots. No one we met had caught anything on the lakes. There is a good tackle shop just outside the gates with some real bargains.

The Kingfisher club is great for food and drink, the chip shop on site were great too in fact I can't say anything bad about the food. Shops were fine, just the basics, but as you are on holiday what do you want.

Site rating:
3 out of 10 in all and that's being kind!
